Claire Florey-Hitchcox Block Printed Wallpapers & Fabrics
My work focuses on the detail of intricate hand-carved woodblocks and the timeless quality of traditional print methods. For my degree show (June 2014) at Manchester School of Art I produced a set of hand-printed lengths of wallpaper using the Columbian printing press. Several different carvings are combined to print each length.
Technology seems to be moving so fast; I wanted to take a step back and slow down to appreciate each part of the making process. Each print is slightly different and the quirks and irregularities that happen along the way are all part of it.
My studio is based in South Oxfordshire.
